Chinese tech giant Xiaomi broke record air conditioner sales in the second quarter of 2025. The company shipped more than 5.4 million air conditioners during this period, achieving over 60% year-over-year growth. This figure marked the highest quarterly shipment volume for Xiaomi’s air conditioner business.
Xiaomi in the spotlight with its air conditioner sales
This success stems from the company’s increased total revenue. With revenue of 116 billion yuan, or approximately $16.24 billion, in the same quarter, Xiaomi surpassed the 100 billion yuan threshold for the third consecutive year.
Xiaomi’s growth isn’t limited to air conditioners. The smart home devices segment is also experiencing significant growth. The company’s revenue in this segment increased by 66.2% year-over-year. Refrigerator shipments increased by over 25%, exceeding 790,000 units. Washing machine shipments increased by over 45%, exceeding 600,000 units.
The company supports its sales success with investments in production. Its first smart home factory in Wuhan, whose foundation was laid in November 2024 and construction was completed in January 2025, is expected to begin mass production by the end of the year. Initially focused on air conditioner production, the factory consists of six different sub-factories and will manufacture both home and central systems.
With all these developments, Xiaomi’s market share is also increasing. In July, it overtook Gree to take second place in the online air conditioner segment. However, this situation has drawn criticism from Gree. Gree’s marketing director, Zhu Lei, stated that his company held a 16.41% share of the online air conditioner market in July, while Xiaomi held a 13.5% share.
